Diamond Apples

So Scott and I went apple picking yesterday. We picked a couple, then I saw the perfect apple. I went around the tree, talking about how perfect and beautiful the apple was that I was about to pick. I heard Scott ask "What about this one?" and turned around to see his apple. Instead he was on his knee holding out a ring. This was so confusing to me! All I could say was "What are you doing???" He said he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and would I marry him. I'm pretty sure I said yes, and another "what are you doing??" in there. :)

It was the most perfect moment I could imagine, but took a while to wrap my brain around. I mean I knew that eventually it would happen, I just figured I would be suspicious and have an idea of when - I had no idea!!! The people back at the barn took our picture, then we had dinner at Panera, walked the dogs, watched Rob Bell's nooma "Flame", and watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding (just seemed appropriate). We decided just to have the excitement to ourselves for the evening and didn't tell anyone til this morning. It was the best night ever! And tonight we are celebrating with fondue at the Melting Pot. :)

Tentatively we are thinking March 14th but its not definite and we're going to hold off on thinking any more about plans for a couple weeks.

Dinner

I made Scott promise not to tell anyone, but I will confess: last night we ate apple pancakes and chips and guacamole. I must say, both were fabulous - but an odd combination. I think that is why I know Scott and I were made for each other, I can suggest making pancakes and guacamole and he doesn't think I'm crazy (or at least he hides it well). :)

Spot and more

Yet another dog has suffered at the teeth of Daisy. Spot made the mistake of sniffing a rawhide that was *hers* (nevermind that there are at least 3 more nearby that are exactly the same). A few stitches later and Spot is back to normal - sort of.

I didn't think he would be so easy to potty train. He's figured it out pretty quickly, and he's also figured out that he gets a treat every time he goes. This means he'll pee a little and run over to get his treat, then run back out and pee some more, then back in for another treat. Do you reward this or not? I'm thinking after a few days, only 1 treat per trip outside - but really thats up to Scott since he is letting them out all night. And Scott says his new trick is ringing the bell to go out (which I've witnessed too), except he knows this will get the door open and a treat, so every few minutes he is enthusiastically attacking the bell. I mentioned that this is when having a not-so-smart dog (Daisy?) is good. She is obedient but would never figure out how to take advantage of the system (and mom says she rang the bell there, but I really don't think she gets it - or else she doesn't have to b/c she goes outside every half hour with Spot). :)
