Pets
Hey all...Scott here. So, yesterday we went out and got a new camera...Nikon D60. And no, the recent commercials with Ashton Kutcher had nothing to do w/ it...honest! :) Anyways, we shot some pics of the pets we thought you might enjoy. Feel free to make offers on them! ;) j/k

Married Life
Well this post is a little belated. I'll start with the wedding... :)
The day went absolutely perfect, at least from our point of view. On the drive to hotel Scott and I talked about how blessed we are to have such awesome family and friends. We were quite overwhelmed with the helpfulness and generosity of everyone - we didn't have to worry about anything the whole day!
We don't have the disc from Peter (the photographer) yet. So here are some from Jerilynn (and I think some other people too but I'm not sure who took them).
And the honeymoon... People keep asking how it was and it seems like such a distant memory. But it was great, I wish we could go back.
I think we settled into a routine pretty quickly after coming home. It was strange the first couple nights realizing that he didn't have to leave. And a little rough getting used to sharing a bed. :) But we are both sleeping better now. Now we are keeping busy painting and soon putting in flooring, fixing the bathroom in the basement, etc. I'll take some pictures soon and update with some before and afters. So far the painting is looking great. We've been looking at houses in the area and will probably list the house once all the work is done. Scott got accepted into a masters program at U of M so we were going to potentially move to ann arbor for that. But this week we found out that GE will give him a leave of absence but then will not reimburse the tuition - they will however reimburse the tuition if he continues working full time. That's not really helpful for our situation so Scott had to decline. Its too bad but I'm so proud of him for trying!

Parties and things
This past month has been full of parties and fun events. It started with the Griffelink family Christmas party. I have a ton of pictures, but will just share this one. Sorry Grandma, but I had to show you getting in on the action. This is how we play our white elephant game....
Scott and I managed to escape this year b/c we drew low numbers.
My first shower was on the 19th but I don't have any pictures to show. It was a lot of fun though!

I don't have a good before picture, but we got Spot shaved a few weeks ago and it was pretty hilarious. Scott didn't think it was our dog! This is the after:
He looks a lot like a poodle without all the fur! Thankfully it is growing back a bit now.
And here's a before of the office:
This is a work in progress. We've already painted the ceiling and bought the wall paint. Painting is tonight and flooring should start going in on Monday (its sitting in the basement now). At least one room in this house will be organized soon - my stuff is still sitting in piles everywhere else (and wedding stuff)!

New Job
If you haven't heard, I started my new job this past Monday at Venomix. I am doing research -sort of. Right now its not so much research as production of protein but essentially we are trying to make safe pesticides using toxins isolated from spider venom. I LOVE it! For many reasons: the people are awesome (all 3 coworkers and 2 bosses), the work is fun and interesting, my schedule is normal, and I'm not sleep deprived for the first time in probably a year and a half. :) The commute will probably get old (to Kalamazoo) but I guess I can't have everything perfect.
Scott and I have gotten SO much done for the wedding, it feels so good to cross a ton of stuff off the list. Yet it keeps adding up, every day there is more to do. Cake tasting was fun, but I didn't want to feel like a pig so we didn't taste too much. We went before dinner so I was hungry and the cake was so good! I better get some on our wedding night.
Scott and I have gotten SO much done for the wedding, it feels so good to cross a ton of stuff off the list. Yet it keeps adding up, every day there is more to do. Cake tasting was fun, but I didn't want to feel like a pig so we didn't taste too much. We went before dinner so I was hungry and the cake was so good! I better get some on our wedding night.

Happy New Year
The past month has been a little crazy. It started with this:
Yup, that's my foot in the ocean. I got to spend a few days in Puerto Rico for work, although I spent way too much time working. A toasty 85 or so degrees here in San Juan. :)
Scott and I had some fantastic dinners at our respective work parties. No pictures from mine but we went to the Melting Pot - fondue is always good! Scott's was fancy, at the Devos Place. Some weird entertainment though, but all in all pretty fun. :)
Then Christmas - when we got home Sunday after being at Scott's parents, Scott had to shovel out the dining room after the dogs came bounding in.
The dogs' Christmas present was fun for a couple minutes til we turned our backs. :)
Scott and I finally got to open our presents! I love this picture because you can really see how much bigger Spot is than Daisy now.
the toothbrush was from the dogs. :)
Yay, Planet Earth!
This was right before Scott finally shaved so I guess this was a few days after Christmas. I thought he should grow it a little while longer but he wouldn't go to church like that.
I probably have some more pictures from my family party last week, I'll get to that eventually. I did start my new job yesterday though, so far so good. Its so strange to have a normal schedule! Its nice to be back in a lab though, and the people there are great. I'm going to be sick of the commute pretty soon though, especially if it doesn't stop snowing!

dreams
I've already had 2 dreams about our wedding going horribly wrong. The first one: no one showed up to the ceremony. I think there were other bad things about it, but I can't remember. The second: I realized during the reception that we had forgotten to take all of the pictures w/ family etc after the ceremony. Then I realized that the photographer had never shown up at all and so we had no pictures of our ceremony!
I never thought I'd be that kind of bride! I'm surprising myself. Although I'd still give it up and elope in a heartbeat - but my soon-to-be better and more rational half doesn't quite see it that way. :) I have to admit that picking out flowers was kind of fun, and I'm looking forward to cake-tasting. And I'm glad I have lots of people in my life who have either planned already and are sharing their info, or actually enjoy this kind of stuff and *want* to help. Most of the wedding is planned and I hardly had to do anything. I think the only thing we really had to do was pick a photographer- and that was only b/c the one recommended to us was busy that day. I used to complain about being the last one to get married but now I'm kind of glad! :)
